Shared Vision Brought Stanley Jones & Associates Together with Centrex Rehab and Volunteers of America

A commitment to excellence and putting clients and staff first resulted in a unique transition this year. Centrex Rehab and Volunteers of America (VOA) took ownership of Rochester-based Stanley Jones and Associates’ (SJA) therapy services on September 1. The new venture will allow Centrex Rehab and VOA to create a more visible and strengthened presence in Rochester and the medical community. More details are available in the RochesterPost Bulletin.

Stanley Jones and Associates consists of three divisions: home care, outpatient therapy and a pediatric outpatient clinic. Volunteers of America acquired the home care division and Centrex Rehab acquired the therapy services and the clinic. As part of the transaction, Centrex will provide therapists who subcontract with Volunteers of America to serve clients in home care.

While SJA has provided therapy to the homebound and children for more than 30 years, company owners are nearing retirement age. The company began looking for a therapy provider that shared its vision and had “the same dedication to therapists and clients while still providing quality services,” says SJA Administrator Pat Mrdjenovich-Hanks. When asked for a provider with these qualifications, SJA’s attorney immediately recommended Centrex Rehab.

“Centrex holds many of the same values and commitment that SJA has become known for: excellent care, great outcomes and a sincere belief that clients and staff come before the bottom line,” says Mrdjenovich-Hanks. “Because Centrex Rehab offers competitive benefits and salary and expert in-house training for therapists, there is an increased opportunity for advancement and personal growth that a small company cannot offer.”

“We are very honored to be recommended,” says Centrex CEO Kristy Brown, who praises the dedication of SJA therapists and staff. Stanley Jones and Associates’ awards in the home health care field include the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Home Health Care Survey Honors, which recognize the highest performing agencies ranked by satisfaction measures covering performance and improvement of care.

Volunteers of America currently provides independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing services to the community at The Homestead in Rochester. “We look forward to adding home care to the services we provide,” said Wayne Olson, Volunteers of America executive vice president, healthcare operations.

In addition to working with older adults, Centrex Rehab is looking forward to helping more children through this new venture.” In fact, Augustana Care (which partnered with Ebenezer to create Centrex Rehab) served women and children who were orphaned in the organization’s early years.

All three organizations are working together to ensure a smooth transition. Brown anticipates that most of SJA’s employees will join Centrex, and services to SJA clients will continue without interruption.

Centrex Rehab was launched in partnership with Augustana Care and Ebenezer.
