With personalized care in a warm neighborhood environment, residents receive the daily support they need while staying connected to community life. For Margaret, Regent’s Care Suites have meant dependable help, friendly staff who feel like family and the freedom to stay active every day. Her experience shows how Care Suites at Regent at Burnsville make aging in place possible with comfort, dignity and peace of mind.

Margaret’s journey to Regent at Burnsville began with a stroke that left her paralyzed on one side of her body. She had been living with her daughter in Farmington, but they both knew Margaret would need more support. After rehabilitation and time in two other communities, Margaret found her new home at Regent at Burnsville and she is glad she did. Here, she receives the support she needs in a community she loves.

“If it wasn’t for me needing physical care, I would just be a resident, but I need a lot of care,” Margaret says.

For Margaret, the personalized support in Regent’s Care Suites helps her stay independent in the ways that matter most.

“I do everything one-handed,” Margaret says. “I can do dishes and feed myself. I need help with everything else.”

That help is never too far away.

“Anything I need, I press a button and they come,” she says.

Having once worked as an aide in senior living herself, Margaret has a special appreciation for the professionalism and compassion she sees every day. She considers the aides part of her family.

“The aides, I treat them just like my kids,” she says.

Meals are an important part of Margaret’s routine, and she enjoys several dining options. She typically eats in the primary dining room, though Care Suites residents also have their own dining area and the option to order meals to their suites. Wherever she dines, she’s happy with the food.

“They have good food. I can’t complain about any of that,” she says.

She also appreciates the dining staff, calling them “wizzes” who “do a good, good job.”

Keeping busy is important to Margaret and Regent offers plenty of opportunities to stay engaged.

“I don’t like staying in my room,” she says. “I go to activities and meals.”

Her favorite? Bingo.

A favorite memory came from a music performance.

“They had songs from back in my days, the ‘50s and ‘60s. That was almost everyone’s favorite,” she says. “They made sure they hit all those eras, so that’s fun.”

Regent at Burnsville hosts worship services, as well.

“There is a pastor who comes right up to our floor,” Margaret says.

Growing up in Superior, Wisconsin, Margaret has always loved the outdoors. She often takes her electric wheelchair around Earley Lake.

“I’ve been around the lake hundreds of times,” she says.

Along the way she enjoys chatting with walkers, watching wildlife and greeting dogs with treats.

Friendship and connection shape Margaret’s days at Regent.

“I’ve made a lot of friends,” she says. “I have been able to meet so many people who were walking.”

She loves getting to know residents from all backgrounds and appreciates how well residents get along.

One of the things Margaret values most is the consistency of the staff.

“Because they’ve been here a long time, everything goes just the right way and they jell,” she says. “We have the best crew.”

Whether managing her medications or stopping in to check on her, she says the team is always attentive.

“Even quiet people feel comfortable asking questions because they’re so receptive,” Margaret says. “They’re very good at their jobs.”

Her message is simple: “My main thing I want to get across is it’s a good crew.”

She says they know her routine well and provide the support she needs.

Margaret is eager to share her experience with anyone considering a move to Regent.

“I would personally tell them about myself and take it from there,” she says.

She knows everyone’s needs are different and is confident the team can meet each one.

“Whatever their needs are, they will address it,” she says.

To her, Regent feels like more than a community.

“We’re more like neighbors. We know each other so well,” she says.
